Disabled people let down
Visit date:
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Long Cane, Wheelchair, Mobility Scooter
Overview
Disabled access cabins are spacious but support rails impractical and disembarkation at ports poor. Since 2015 disembarking has improved but be prepared for some gangways are steep. Staff to help may be strong but not taught how to move a wheelchair or scooter.
Transport & Parking
Car to Southampton then Transmobility specialist taxi company. It can be cheaper to have an overnight in Southampton where some hotels of free or low cost parking plus shuttle tonand from ship.
Access
Access around the ship is very good. There are reserved seats and spaces for wheelchairs and companions. Sometime taken up by those who "prefer these seats".
Toilets
All accessible. No red cord system, an alert button.
Staff
There is an overall lack of awareness on how to communicate with disabled people. Crass comments from officers who should know better. Be assertive about your needs and don't take anything for granted such as "common sense".
