Flat promenade walk alongside the beach

Overview
We visited Roker Beach because of a review on here and we weren't disappointed. There is plenty of parking, a lovely walk along the promenade and good toilets. I couldn't get onto the actual beach as the sand was dry and very soft but hubby took my assistance dog down for a walk and a play. My only disappointment was that the long pier to the lighthouse is not open to the public. I would have loved to walk along it.
Transport & Parking
Very easy to drive to, though we came in through Sunderland, which is quite industrial. It was hard to imagine that we were so clise to the beach until we actually arrived. We parked at the Harbour View car park. It is pay and display but blue badge holders don't have to pay. There were several blue badge spaces. The ground was a little uneven in the car park but manageable.
Access
The promenade is clean, flat and well surfaced. There were plenty of entry points to the beach, both slips and steps. Most of the prom is away from the roads so no cars to worry about, and nice for walking the dog. When you get to the end of the prom, you can turn left and follow a path uphill to Roker Park. It looked nice from the road but we didn't go that far.
Toilets
There were several toilets. We used the accessible toilet in the main block. It was RADAR locked and very clean. I was hoping to have a look at the changing places toilet but that is on a RADAR lock plus a number pad and we couldn't work out how to open it.
