Overview
Rivertime Boat Trust offer a two-hour boat trip from Henley-on-Thames through the lock to go upstream past exclusive houses and returning to go downstream under Henley Bridge following the route of the Henley Regatta. The boat is fully accessible, the staff are wonderfully helpful and knowledgeable, the stretch of river is stunning and the overall experience is first class. Our son has complex needs and we found the trip to be a calming multi-sensory experience with the gentle hum of the engine, the sparkling water and the cool breeze all beneficial for him. The boat trip is pre-booked either as a private charter maximum 12 persons or as part of a group.
Transport & Parking
By choice, we parked in the Grey St carpark and walked the 15 minutes through the town centre, all very accessible. There was no charge for Blue Badge holders. It was also possible to park very close to where the boat was moored with a short path connecting the road to the waterside.
Access
There is an onboard lift to transfer wheelchairs and foot passengers. On board there is plenty of seating as well as space for wheelchairs - there were 5 on our trip. The day was sunny and bright and the interior felt airy and comfortable. Lots of windows for best views.
Toilets
Accessible loo, spacious and clean.
Staff
Skipper Lucy and her team of volunteers go out of their way to make the whole experience inclusive and comfortable. They speak knowledgeably about the river and their experience is evident, as is their kindness and consideration for their clients.
