Overview
This upmarket restaurant in historic Winchester looked initially inaccessible with it's two steep steps but a ramp is available. The staff were very helpful and ensured we were positioned in a table with ample room for my wheelchair despite the fact that we had not booked in advance. The food was amazing and the staff polite and friendly.
Transport & Parking
There is plenty of free blue badge parking in Winchester. Winchester has an excellent "Visitor trail by wheelchair" which you can download from visitwinchester.co.uk and the car parks are clearly marked. Would highly recommend going on the trail. We went round it twice.
Access
There are two steep steps and a right hand turn into the restaurant but a ramp is available. In my light manual chair I was just tilted and easily lifted over the steps and did not need to use the ramp. I do not recall any signage about a portable ramp but it was easy enough for my husband to pop in and ask about access.
Toilets
Large accessible toilet. Clean and well laid out. See photo.
Staff
The staff were polite, charming and had a sense of humour. They really made the experience memorable.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I would definitely visit again. The food is top class and the two course lunch is good value for money. Rick Stein was actually there and was kind enough to have his photograph taken with me !
