Overview
A council run sports centre that is easy to access by all and facilities a number of groups that are specific to individuals with disibility.
Transport & Parking
The centre is on a number of bus routes from the bus station in Bradford town centre and surrounding areas, it is well sign posted and is located near the Bradford Bulls rugby stadium. If traveling by car the centre has a large car park with several disabled parking bays.
Access
The centre can be accessed from the main road by a slope leading from the pavement and there are stairs and a sloped pavement leading from the carpark to the main entrance. The building itself has a very distinctive shape so is easy to spot (see pictures). Inside the centre there is a lift to access other levels, there is a Hearing Loop, and a Lowered Counter at the main reception, the gym has specilised equipment for wheelchair users to access and slopes to reach the pool side however there is no pool side Hoist. The centre hosts a number of disability friendly groups on different days.
Toilets
The disabled toilet can be found easily and it was clean and tidy, it has grab rails and emergancy pull cord in situ. There appears to be plenty of room to maneuver a wheelchair and/or a carer to be present. However it was not noted on this visit if there are disabled toilets on other levels at the centre.
Staff
The staff on the reception are friendly and helpful also the fitness and gym instructors are very knowledgeable about health and fitness and are always on hand to give advice and offer assistance when visiting the centre.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I would recommend this centre as it has good overall access and caters for all ages and abilities.
