Overview
For a working heritage railway, this is one of the best we have been to. You can get around the museum which is an engine shed. The train is accessible.
Transport & Parking
There are designated spaces round the entrance. We have never had a problem parking even on event days.
Access
The ramps are all at a low gradient with flat platforms. The only minor difficulty we had was at the back of the museum shed where there are rails however with a little effort I got the wheelchair over. Going up to an exhibition room was very easy with a lovely long ramp that turns back in the other direction. There is plenty of room to turn the corner. They can put a ramp out to get on the train in the guards van. If you are able to walk 10m down the corridor there is a seating area reserved for disabled visitors on busy days.
Toilets
It is ok. It has hand rails both sides and a pull chord to the floor that you would be able to reach from anywhere in the room. For us it was find however if you need to slide to transfer onto the toilet you can only do so from 1 side. It is quite tight and has a baby change in aswell.
Staff
The staff are brilliant. They were very helpful getting onto the train. They were making sure the toilet was clean. They are very keen to help and make it as easy as possible for disabled visitors.
