Overview

The Regal Lady is a former World War II steamship, refitted for leisure cruises around Scarborough's North and South Bays. As expected, access can be tricky on this vessel, due to its age and original purpose. Our visit included a Guide Dog, and the staff were very helpful, assisting my blind mother down the narrow walkway onto the boat, taking the guide dog and making her aware of her surroundings.

Transport & Parking

4.5

On-street parking a short walk from the harbour.

Access

4.5

A fine example of honesty, openness and going above and beyond when it comes to disabled access. Full assistance provide by the friendly staff - the bar area was spacious for a little boat and I can't see there'd be any problems for wheelchair users once on board. I've heard that the crew will even carried people in their wheelchairs onto the Regal Lady.

Toilets

2.5

The toilets are small and I couldn't see them accommodating a wheelchair unfortunately, though that's understandable. You could visit one of the many public loos along the promenade before boarding - just make sure you don't over do it at the bar during the voyage.

Staff

Amazing. They bought drinks to our table, took us to pose for photo opportunities on this historical boat, gave us water for the guide dog. I doubt there's much they wouldn't do to make the Regal Lady as accessible as possible.
