Overview
This narrow gauge stream Railway is a gem. The journey from Ravenglass to Dalegath is one of matchless beauty, from winding river estuary to a Station with a great view of Lakeland’s highest mountain, Scafell. All trains are wheelchair and mobility scooter assessable. The are two cafes at Dalegarth, we visited the lower one which is dog friendly. It can be accessed by a gentl tarmac slope from the station platform. My friend had a free ticket as my carer. Ideally it is better to give advance warning. We didn’t but the railway staff quickly removed a seat to create a generous space for my scooter and took charge of loading and unloading it, with great cheerfulness and good humour.
Transport & Parking
I can’t comment on parking because I came from the campsite by scooter.
Access
The train is fully accessible,as are the facilities
Toilets
Spacious, well placed grab rails, red emergency cord
Staff
They facilitated the transport of my scooter. When we got to our destination we were proved with a leaflet with a map of local attractions , we used to go St Catherine’s Church, a little gem.
