Overview
A charming small café serving delicious, home-made vegetarian food on the High Street. There's reasonable access and staff are extremely helpful. If you require step free access I would suggest entering from the car park area behind the café as this route is entirely step free, though the garden and into the main café.
Transport & Parking
The café is half way up the High Street in Glastonbury, which is on a noticeable slope. Glastonbury does not have a train station. I took the 376 bus from Bristol which took about 1.5 hours. The bus is accessible with a ramp at the front of the bus and a wheelchair user space. There are bus stops very close to the café. Directly behind the café is a public car park, for which there is a charge.
Access
The entrance to the café is directly off the High Street. There is a single step with no handrail at the entrance. Sorry I didn't take many photos, but my pain levels were really high the day I visited, and I wasn't as focused as I could have been. From the door there is a narrow corridor and then you turn right into the main café area. I'm really sorry I can't remember if there was a further step or two leading into this room (sorry to be so rubbish). However, once into the main café area and rear garden and exit via the car park was all step free. The café area has a glass counter, at standing height, so you can see the food displayed. There is indoor freestanding tables and chairs. From the back of the café it leads out into a delightful outdoor area with some roof covering. There are some freestanding tables and chairs and some picnic bench type seating. This is a fabulous stop to be out in. The café exit is through the step free garden area into the car park. The only problem is that the café is extremely popular and as the food is self service, there is sometimes long queues, both in the numbers of people waiting and the time it takes to be served. If you enter from the High Street, after navigating the single step, you may have to wait in the corridor. It's narrow and there are no staff there so if you need help or couldn't stand, you would have to navigate jumping the queue. That might feel uncomfortable to do. I would therefore suggest, if you require step free access or unable to stand in a queue, entering from the car park area behind the café as this route is entirely step free and staff will be able to notice you more easily.
Toilets
I didn't check the toilets when I visited. Behind the café is a car park, in which there is a public accessible toilet. It is opened 24 hours a day, but requires a RADAR key if you are using it in the evenings.
Staff
Staff are really friendly and helpful. A member of staff took my tray to my table.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The food in this café is remarkable. Huge portions of excellent quality home made food. This was my favourite meal of my holiday, sitting in the garden with sun shining was such a treat. I would definitely visit again, and I would enter from the car park area if I felt unable to stand in the queue and would seek staff support. Highly recommend and I will definitely be back.
