Overview
Rainbows ceramic painting studio located in central York is a fun and friendly venue providing a wide range of paint -your-own ceramics. This venue caterers for all ages even offering parties to pre-booked groups. Unfortunately there are limited disabled facilities however the staff are friendly, helpful and used to wheelchair users needing some minor assistance with access to the property due to slight step of 8cm at the entrance doorway. This venue is busy during weekends and can get quite loud and chaotic if this is desirable to avoid it is advised to visit weekday mornings.
Transport & Parking
Rainbows is located on the corner of Bootham and Gillygate within York city center. It is situated approximately 200 meters from the nearest bus stop at Museum Street or 200 meters from Bootham Row car park. Bootham Row car park provides 10 Blue Badge users spaces for free unlimited stay.
Access
York has uneven slim footpaths due to its age, however they are usable. Due to the small step (8cm) and average sized doorway at the entrance some wheelchair users may need assistance to enter however the staff have expressed a willingness to assist where possible.
Toilets
The toilet which is situated at the back of the shop, does not have grab rails a step is present and is quite small and narrow in size, which would make access to a wheelchair user difficult.
Staff
Staff are polite and helpful, they are aware of the limitations of the studios size, yet aim to cater for all where possible. Regular visitors include wheelchair users and individuals with mental health difficulties often utilize this venue for art therapy. It is advised to contact the studio previous to visit to inform the staff of any special requirements you may have to ensure they can be met if possible.
