Overview
The Radisson Blu Hotel in Durham is one of the few hotels in Durham which has accessible hotel bedrooms with wetrooms and is also wheeling/pushing distance from the centre of this beautiful city. The staff are always polite and friendly and willing to help. This was my fourth visit to this hotel over the past 2.5 years and each time the quality of room and service has been excellent. It would have got 5 stars but neither of the electric accessible doors were working during my last visit but this was unusual.
Transport & Parking
There are at least 7 spacious blue badge parking spaces close to the entrance althought these are often used by non blue badge holders ! You do pay for parking but so do all visitors.
Access
There are electrically operated push button doors at the front and rear of the hotel which are normally working but not on this visit. The hotel reception, restaurants and bars are all easily accessible. The accessible bedrooms are huge. These are set up as twin beds with plenty of space around the beds and a further large seating area opposite the beds (excuse poor photo attached). There is also a lot of accessible hanging and storage space for clothes. I have stayed in many hotels and these are by far the largest and most comfortable rooms. See comments on bathrooms
Toilets
The ensuite accessible wetrooms are enormous. They are well laid out and would have 5 stars if they had larger and more accessible sinks. Note the Euan's guide red cord in the photo ! See photo - Image 1
Staff
Always polite and helpful. On one of our visits the shower was not working properly and we were moved to a suite, received free parking and drinks vouchers.
