Overview
The Quad is a cinema, gallery, café bar and workshop which, due to the facilities anyone can use. The Quad aim to connect people through film and art to provide entertainment and education. The quad is a very accessible building with wide automatic doors on a level access which makes it perfect for wheelchair uses. There are lifts providing access to all cinemas screens on each floor. In each of the screens the quad provides access spaces which can be used independently or next to a career and the staff are very helpful and can't do enough for their guests. I was delighted to hear about the monthly supportive environment screening which is hosted by the Quad. This is supportive of everyone's needs and these showings are aimed at adults and children with special learning needs or who are on the autism spectrum as they've adapted to showing so there are no adverts or trailers beforehand, the lights are raised and the volume is lowered. The quad also aim to make the experience exclusive by offering sound plus infrared listening system; integrated loop system; soft subtitled screening and audio description for the partially blind.
Transport & Parking
The Quad has no car park attached as it is in the centre of town. However, the assembly rooms has disabled car parking spaces which can be used by the Quad's customers and is just across the market square. There is also a large taxi lane which is a few metres from the front door and these spaces are large enough to allow a enough space for a wheelchair. The Quad is also on a bus route and the bus stop is just outside the main entrance.
Access
The quad is a fully accessible building with a level access and automatic front doors. It has lift access to all floors and accessible toilets on each floor with an electronic cord which can be pulled to indicate that the person is in need of help. There are access spaces available in all cinemas which can be used independently or have enough space to bring a companion or carer. The quad also has a scheme which allows careers to see the film for no cost. They also offer a wide range of adaptions to make it accessible to all such as induction loops, soft subtitled screening for those who are hearing impaired. The soft subtitles provide more information such as describing if something is sung; Audio description is available for people who are partially sighted whereby they can listen through a headset to describe what is happening on the screen during certain dialogue breaks. The Quad also produces large print brochures to display the films that are currently playing which, the staff are more than happy to hand out and can be arranged to have them posted to the customers homes. The Quad is a creditability provider and credibility verified accessible building which is designed by disabled and older people to ensure the service is competent and they are open to feedback regarding improvements to the service.
Toilets
The toilets at the quad are accessible on every floor with an electric cord in all. The toilets are spacious to allow enough room to manoeuvre a wheelchair as well as space for the career. The toilets are well equipped with grab rails. They are also very tidy as they are regularly checked and cleaned.
Staff
The staff were extremely helpful and there is always someone close by to ask a question to. They were willing to answer all our questions and went the extra length to find out the answers to those they were unsure about. All the staff were polite, empathetic and seemed well trained. They were truly passionate about their job and helping the customers to have the best experience whilst visiting.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The Quad is an amazing place to visit. It's a unique cinema which not only provides entertainment but workshops as a form of education. It's very well equipped and I would definitely visit the Quad again.
