Overview

The main difficulty is getting from the car park to the ticket office - up a very steep and cobbled approach! The moat area and garden isn't accessible (though there's not much of it to access, to be fair). The ringed area to the front is largely visible without needing to get to it all, the rooms downstairs inside are superbly accessible as are the areas to the rear. Not a very large castle though so what there is doesn't take long to get round. Interesting though and helpful staff.

Transport & Parking

Don't know how close buses pass but the castles quite a way above the main town. There is a dedicated car park but it's across and a small way up the side road from the castle entrance, then a walk up the steep entrance road (no cars). There are no blue badge spaces. The car park is loose gravel.

Access

Once up the steep cobbled entrance road, the path is loose gravel. There are steps up to the ticket off so it's inaccessible from the front door. However a member of staff hurried out as soon as he saw me. There's a special wheelchair entrance that bypasses the ticket off (see photo) and this leads to the rear of the ruin. Much if these outside areas are cobbled. There's a ramp leading to the inside rooms from these areas to the rear, and this route takes you via a sharp and quite tight turn into the Georgian interior. Once inside it's nice and flat with plenty if Soave it manoeuvre. There are good displays on the walls. Shop had plenty if space too.

Toilets

There's an accessible loo inside - in one of the Georgian interior rooms adjacent to the ticket office. Spacious and well equipped.
