Overview
Proper Accessible Accomodation that was throughly thought through and clearly planned out.
Transport & Parking
At the front of the building was a parking place for a car. It was about a 10 minute walk/ wheelchair ride to the train station. There was a bus stop at the end of the street.
Access
The front door has steps up the front however to the rear of the property there is ramped access just be careful to slow your powered wheelchair down so you do not wheel off the end of the ramp. In the property the bathroom and kitchen are next to one another. With wide spaced doors through out the property. The distance from the bathroom to the lounge is about 15 metres so if you use a walking aid at home it would be worth you taking it as there is not rail to lean or rest on along the corridor. Once you get to the lounge it is very well laid out and you can move around freely. The bedroom is next to the lounge it is very well laid out and quite easy to move around. Although it would be suggested the less able person has the bed next to the door as it is quite tight between second bed and the wall.
Toilets
The wetroom is very well laid out and designed. There is lots of space to move around and actually has a sliding door to help with gaining access. The only let down was no left hand grap rail for toilet or toilet frame which meant a few times when trying to sit down the toilet was missed.
Staff
Peter was extremely helpful. He came to the train station to assist with our luggage and to show us where the flat was. This was a service we did not expect so it was above and beyond our expectations. Peter has been very helpful through out and has made a brilliant job of making a holiday property truly accessible. We are looking forward to returning to the property because it met our needs brilliantly.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The property has been made allergy friendly throughout by the use of hard floors. There is lots of storage space fo your belongings. Some of the kitchen sides and oven is a little high if you are trying to cook from your wheelchair. However overall we cannot wait for our next visit which we have already booked. It proves proper accessible accomodation can be created when people put there minds to it and do the proper research. Well done Peter you have made a Proper Accessible Holiday Accomodation!
