Overview
I visited with my wheelchair/rollator using wife. We were aiming for the Eden Project but this was the closest Premier Inn with a wheelchair accessible wet room. As my wife cannot step into or out of a bath, so called ‘accessible’ rooms that have a normal bath with shower over and a couple of grab rails are NOT accessible for us. Everything was on the same level. We stayed in room 9 and the wet room was pretty good. They even recognise that disabled visitors usually have a carer with them so we got 2 towel rails, and a mirror that I (at 6’4”) didn’t have to kneel down to use! The only negatives were that the drop down hand rails were very wobbly, there was no fixed vertical grab rail by the shower, and the emergency notice and red cord were partially obscured by the shower curtain. The toilet was a standard one so we were please to have brought our fix on raiser. However, the room itself was less good. They did have low coathooks and wardrobe rail, but the bed and chairs were ‘normal’. ie too low for someone who has problems sitting down and getting up
