Overview
Upon arrival we found a lift to lower the wheelchair to the subterranean reception. It did not work. Ringing the alarm raised no one as it sounds in the vestibule with the lift and cannot be heard from the reception. I had to leave my wife stranded in the loft and go to get help. Not a great start. After checking in I had to negotiate a narrow door to access the accomodation area. This opens out and is quite heavy. No assistance available to open door and push the wheelchair. There were 2 more doors like this plus the room door and all corridors so narrow I couldn't easily get past the wheelchair to open the doors. The room itself is mostly accessible but a narrow corridor past bathroom to the sleeping area is not easy for door access again. Twin beds narrower than standard singles make the sleeping arrangements. They need to be wider because my wife had problems with the reduced width. The chair is very low and soft making it difficult for my wife to sit out of her wheelchair. The bathroom is large and of the wet room variety. There are drop down rails for the toilet and shower area and a stool that folds to the wall. The door to the wet room is wide and of the sliding variety but the corridor is too narrow for easy manoeuvres to turn the 90 degrees into and out of it. All done n all the accessibility could be better thought out starting at the front entrance all the way to the room as getting around inside this relatively new hotel is not as easy as it should be.
Transport & Parking
No parking on site and the nearest disabled car park is almost 10 minutes away in the local railway station. It's fairly flat so at least no hills to climb. Next door has a car park with 4 disabled bays but tell you off if you use them.
Access
Love ts of steps and a temperamental lift to and from entrance. The assistance alarm cannot be heard in the reception so if you are on your own you are stuck.
Toilets
Only found the room toilet accessible.
Staff
Whilst friendly, when I commented on the accessibility issues around the hotel they just said yes we know. I know it's above their position where decisions are made but assistance getting around would be helpful. Reporting upwards would be good as motorised doors would help tremendously
