Overview
On a recent trip to Aintree for a conference, the organisers booked myself and a few others into the Premier Inn North in Bootle As I required a wet room, the availability of such was checked out prior and confirmed on the booking form, as was wheelchair accessible rooms for someone whom I travelled with.
Transport & Parking
There was good disabled parking at the hotel, with a number of bays. Unfortunately it was a wee bit of a walk (I was using a walker on this occasion) but the automatic doors made entry easy.
Access
Check in was a wee bit slow due to ‘the system’ being down and things had to be done manually. Key cars allocated, we headed to our rooms. The wheelchair room was fairly close to reception but in order to get to my room I had to go along one long corridor and then along another of similar length. I have to say by the time I got to my room I was completely shattered. Once in the room, it was massive!. A large double bed and another single away in the corner of the room beside a desk and sofa. The hairdryer was tucked away under the kettle with tea and coffee. Typical open wardrobe (I can never get the hangers back on using one hand), shelves and power points, althought there wasn’t any beside the bed or even USB charge points such as in a Hoiliday Express. Just a personal thing, but I did find the bed rather soft and low down. I suppose not having a grab rail (nor my ‘Better half’) I did find it a bit difficult getting out of bed in the morning
Toilets
The wet room was also spacious, with perfectly adequate grab rails, although the pull down ones seemed to shake a bit. The pull down seat at the shower seemed to be of canvas but worked fine, even with the wobbly pull down rail.
Staff
On traipsing along the corridor on our way to eat, I asked reception if I could get a chair to use whilst at the sink, and this was in place for me coming back from the restaurant. The receptionist also gave me their direct number should I have any problems (Premier Inns don’t have phones in the room) This was really good as when I got back to the room, my keycard failed to work! A quick call and a replacement was brought along. Well done the night reception staff. After a reasonable sleep and shower, I was ready for breakfast and checkout. Here, I mentioned the long trail to an accessible room to the receptionist. She agreed that is was a long walk but said had we asked, could have come in the fire door beside my room, leading out to the carpark! Should I use this hotel again, I shall bear that in mind
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Other than the long walk to my room, I cannot really fault the Premier Inn Liverpool North, of which the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff I met staff was the highlight.
