Overview

I stayed in the accessible room at Premier Inn next to Glasgow airport for one night before flying. The whole experience was fantastic with the staff being very friendly and helpful. The room had plenty of accessible features such as grab rails, lower coat hangers, assistance cords and a lower bath and sink. While turning space was tight, especially for a power chair it was manageable with care. It felt very Covid safe also. I would definitely stay here again.

Transport & Parking

3.5

There are accessible parking spaces near to the front door. Walking around near the hotel was slightly more tricky due to not many dropped kerbs so I did have to go along the road, however this was very quiet so it didn’t feel unsafe.

Access

4.5

The entrance to the hotel is completely flat and the accessible room is on the ground floor quite close to the entrance. The room itself was well designed with twin beds, emergency cords, lower coat hooks and a well adapted bathroom. The bathroom had drop down rails next to the toilet and along the bath (there is no shower which may make it difficult for some people). The sink and mirror were well placed for a wheelchair user also. The only minor issue is I found the doors really heavy to open though do have weaker upper body strength. Definitely one of the more accessible rooms I have stayed in.

Toilets

4.5

I didn’t use the public toilet only the one within the bedroom. This was very accessible with lots of handle bars, transfer space and a good height. It was very clean.

Staff

5

The staff were fantastic and were the reason this stay was as good as it was. They spoke to me rather than my carer and made the whole stay brilliant. There was no problem getting a later check out in the morning either.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Masks were required in the public areas and as much as possible was done contactlessly such as returning keys into a box rather than at the desk. There was lots of hand sanitiser available and the place was clean.
