Overview

This is a review for Premier Inn Exeter Central St Davids, which is located directly opposite Exeter St Davids Railway Station. Please note there are other Premier Inn hotels in Exeter. The hotel has a very convenient location and was very accessible and comfortable. Very happy with my stay and would certainly go back again.

Transport & Parking

Amazing. The hotel is directly opposite Exeter St Davids Railway Station's main entrance. This is the station where the long distance trains stop for Exeter as well as local, shorter services. On exiting the station, look directly in front of you, where you will see a car park and directly behind it is the hotel. The signage and Premier Inn logo are quite distinctive. To get to the hotel safely, exit the station onto Isambard Parade, use the crossing slightly to your right, by the taxi rank. Walk along a short parade of 4 shops, there is a convenience shop, Apple Central Taxis office, another shop and a Costa on the corner. At the end of the shops you come to Bonhay Road where there are traffic lights, cross the road and turn left and the Premier Inn is the next building you come to. There are several buses that stop directly outside the station in Isambard Parade. There is a car park in front of the station. There is a taxi rank in front of the station and a local cab firm Apple Central Taxis have an office in the parade of shops, this is useful to know as the first morning when we needed a cab there weren't any waiting in the station's taxi rank, and we very quickly got a cab from there.

Access

The hotel is step free and have accessible bedrooms. The entrance has two sets of double automatic doors. This leads into a foyer where you can check in. The counters are at standing height. Also on this level is the restaurant, bar and public accessible toilet. Behind the check in desks are two double lifts. I was in Room 117, which has wheels in shower. The room was spacious, comfortable, tidy and well maintained. There was a double bed, desk and chair, comfy chair and a small wardrobe and shelf space. there was an emergency alarm button next to the bed. The bathroom had wheels in shower with a fixed shower chair, plenty of grab rails and an emergency red cord. My room backed onto the side of the hotel and it was very quiet.

Toilets

There is an accessible toilet in the restaurant area but you need your room key to get into the corridor.

Staff

Staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. There was a short wait to check in as there were a few other people in front of me. When there are no staff on the reception desk. there is a bell to ring for service. We had breakfast at the hotel which is self service. One evening we had dinner there and the service was very good.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The food was very nice and there were plenty of options on the menu. The hotel is also on the right side of Exeter if you are vising the University. The day we were at the University, it was easy to get a taxi and we were there within 5 minutes. Walking would take longer as it is up a hill. Please note that St Davids Station and the hotel are about a 15 minute walk into Exeter town centre/ Cathedral area. Personally I haven't walked it so I can't comment. When we wanted to go into the town centre we took the train 1 stop to Exeter Central. There are regular trains and this was an easy journey. On the day of departure, I left my case at the hotel, and picked it up when I was departing Exeter. It was so easy. If I was returning to Exeter I would definitely stay here again, it's really nice and it is so convenient for the station.
