Overview

This is a nice hotel in a handy locations. Are there are a few minuses about it but plenty of pluses too !

Transport & Parking

Large carpark with a bays of disabled parking directly opposite the main doors of the adjacent pub The Haywain. And then more disabled bays outside the actual hotel door. The walk from the hotel to the pub ( where all meals can be found) is about 30 metres , the walkway is not totally covered. There are dropped kerbs from the actual carpark onto the pavement and entrance to the actual hotel and put is step free.

Access

There is step free access to the hotel and adjoining pub. The disabled rooms are on the ground floor. This is an older hotel though so the disabled room is small. There is not a lot of room around the bed and the bed is a double not the king-size bed that all the other rooms have. The bathroom is also small. There is no walk in shower, its a shower over a low level bath. There are grab rails etc. There is no room in the actual room for a mobility scooter and I think putting a wheelchair in their would make getting around difficult. This is a 2 story hotel and there is no lift.

Toilets

The loo in the actual room is small , but adequate, There is not a lot of space for a wheelchair though. There is a large, clean disabled loo with all the necessary grab bars in the adjoining pub, The Haywain.

Staff

The staff are lovely and helpful but not really very up to date of with the requirements of disabled people but they do their level best.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

This is a handy hotel to stay at. If you do not need to use the shower, or can climb into the bath to use the overhead shower, I would recommend not booking the disabled room but an ordinary room as they are more spacious. Also ring the hotel at the time of booking and request a ground floor room if stairs are difficult for you as there is no lift and this is a 2 story hotel.
