Overview

Potterrow has everything you could ever need from a Student Union building. It is located in Bristo Square and houses EUSA's main office, the Potter Shop, Dome Cafe, Potter Coffee, University Chaplaincy, banks and the Advice Place. The Dome Cafe within the building gets its name from the big dome ceiling that fills the room with light and gives the building big open spaces for a relaxed coffee and a bite to eat in the day time. It has a lift on the ground floor to access 'The Advice Place' and a ramp to get to the cafe on the upper level. Staff are very friendly, mainly students, and are always happy to give assistance. It's much more accessible than the other Student Union building in Bristo Square, Teviot, which is fairly inaccessible with access limited to the underground floors!

Transport & Parking

4.5

There is a public disabled bay located along Crichton Street, which is very close to the venue

Access

4.5

Most of the building is very accessible, bar the chaplaincy (to the far left of the building, accessed through a side door), which has steps to the first floor and there is no lift in this section of the building.

Toilets

4

There is an accessible toilet located on the ground floor. The accessible toilet contains left hand lateral transfer space. There is adequate manoeuvring space, There is an emergency pull chord alarm. The door slides open to the left. The width of the accessible toilet door is suitable for wheelchair users. There are suitable dropdown and support rails for transfer. The tap type is a lever mixer. The contrast between the grab rails and walls is not good. The contrast between the walls and floor is good. The lighting level in the cubicle is not great

Staff

4

The staff in the cafe are very helpful. Some of the security staff can be a little over-cautious at times, but this has only happened on one occasion
