Overview
I love visiting the Stand in the Square during August, and this year it was no different! Cosy heaters, blankets available in baskets, sturdy boardwalks underfood and an abundance of bars and food stalls - perfect festival hang-out.
Transport & Parking
Great Lothian bus links to St Andrew Square and both Queen Street and Princes Street either side. Various entrances into the square where taxis can drop you off. Limited parking around the edge of the square and nearby on George Street. The Square is across the road from the Edinburgh bus station if you are travelling from further afield.
Access
Impressed with the sturdy boardwalks and highly visible ramp inclines around the pop-up this year. Every food stall has a gentle ramp up to the service point and they are all spaced far enough apart that you won't be fighting with crowds to be served. All chairs and tables are at low height with moveable chairs (which were actually being moved around all night to accomodate different sized groups). Blankets available and lots of toasty heaters which you can adjust the strength of. Nicely lit up and clear signage throughout.
Toilets
Didn't use them but was impressed with the artsy, clear and very large signage pointint to the accessible loos. Plenty of privacy as the boardwalk ramp leads to the toilets hidden from direct view.
Staff
Very friendly, plenty of staff around and they all seemed very enthusiastic on preview night of the Fringe!
Anything else you wish to tell us?
A popular but slightly more relaxed festival spot compared to places like George Square.
