Overview
Considering the location of the event the organisers and staff had done everything possible to make the Tattoo as accessible as possible for attendees with different levels of compromised mobility. The staff were extremely helpful and polite.
Transport & Parking
As the Tattoo is at the castle the parking was non-existent. It is possible to be granted early access by car, taxi or ambulance for any performance except on Saturday. The cobbled hill leading up to the castle was well staffed and there were also lots of military police to escort or actually push wheelchair users up the hill and into the venue.
Access
The access seemed quite good. The access for wheelchairs was good, especially once past the cobbled street. There was a large area for wheelchairs all around the edge of the performance area and for those not in wheelchairs, but with mobility issues were ably assisted to their seats by the many ushers.
Toilets
We didn't use the toilets although there were disabled toilets available on the esplanade.
Staff
The ushers, military police and regular police were extremely helpful, polite and cheerful. They made it as easy as possible for wheelchair users to access the event.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The initial access may have proved an issue for some wheelchair users as attendees had to queue a short walk from the venue and the hill up to the castle was crowded with pedestrians. However, there was early access available on every day except Saturday. There is also vehicular access allowed for wheelchair users, not on Saturday though.
