Overview
My first experience of live music again after the long lockdown months. I was pretty nervous but the venue felt spacious and safe, the staff seemed well trained and there had clearly been a lot of thought about the best way to make the venue safe and accessible.
Transport & Parking
We got there using the tram - we got off at Edinburgh Park Central and it was just a couple of minutes away. We were asked not to be there more than 30 minutes before start time and we'd timed it well. I was surprised that the tram wasn't busier. From the tram stop it is level access to the venue and had the distinctive EIF branding marking the way.
Access
Really impressed with the set up overall. There was wooden decking throughout which was level. It was really raining hard when we were there, which could've made things a bit slippery but it didn't seem to where we were. The tent structure itself was pretty awesome! Seating was arranged as it had been at the booking process in singles / pairs / triples and quads. It would've been very easy to change a seat for a wheelchair spot. We were at the edge and at a couple of points during the concert it looked like rain might get us! But the team had thought about that and gave out free plastic ponchos to those at risk from the elements. There were signed displaying row numbers so it was easy to find your seats. You had to 'check in' before getting to your seats but this was easy enough and a staff member had a QR code for you to scan. There were sanitising stations around the venue at a good height for us. The bar system was great for us. You scanned a QR code and then ordered and paid for your drinks through an app and the team brought them to our seats - let's hope that continues!
Toilets
We didn't need to use the accessible loo but it was located at the back of the venue with the other loos and clearly signposted. The accessible loo had a slightly raised platform with a ramp whereas with the other loos there was gravel and a few steps to navigate.
Staff
Super helpful - their uniforms made them highly visible too! They've obviously had some good training. And they were all still smiling despite the downpour!
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I really hope that some of the covid precautions can be carried on after things get 'back to normal' particularly the moveable seating and the drinks ordering system.
