Overview
This is an amazing festival where it's promises to be as accessible as possible. We ventured down from Edinburgh for the day to see if it delivered and it most definitely did! We're lucky enough to have really sunny weather too!
Transport & Parking
We got the bus from Newcastle to Saltwell park in Gateshead, the bus journey was about 10 minutes. The bus driver was very nice and told us where we were due to get off, but there was no signs anywhere to the festival and we pretty much had to find our way via hearing the sounds coming from the grounds. In saying that Saltwell park is beautiful and was worth a dander through. Unsure about car parking.
Access
Brilliant access. The organisers had done little more to make the festival different - but it made the world of a difference. All paths where accessed by ramps and level access, the paths where wide and even. It was great have a decent path down the middle of the site and every path took you to everywhere you wanted to go to. The bar was really accessible with hard flooring and a lower bench where people can buy , pay and get their drinks. The site was slightly sloped so it was nice to see the stage whilst lying down, but it wasn't too steep.
Toilets
Clean toilets and their was even a Changing Places toilet!
Staff
Really happy, and there was a strong sense of community spirit - everyone was treated with respect and I knew they wanted to be there rather than just doing their jobs.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I was really impressed that every act had their performances signed, it was great to see guitars and drums being signed. There was an awful lot of children and toddlers running around- that might not always be disabled peoples idea of fun. The beer at the Wylan was really nice but extremely strong so we could only manage one each! The ice cream was great too.
