Small and friendly
Visit date:
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Wheelchair, Mobility Scooter
Overview
Easy access on mobility scooter, plenty of space, lift to all floors, friendly, helpful staff.
Transport & Parking
Parking is difficult in the old part of Poole especially around the Quay, which is where the museum is. We had a long break between appointments at Poole Hospital so left the car there and used the mobility scooter (approx 1 mile) but there are closer car parks.
Access
Sloped easy access from road with automatic doors. Level floors throughout. Lift to all floors. (There were problems with the lift lights when we visited which meant that we needed to be accompanied by a member of staff, but this was no trouble to them.) Plenty of space between exhibits for manoeuvring. Plenty of space in cafe - though best to leave the scooter outside.
Toilets
Good loo, well signed, but it would be difficult to access on the scooter, but ok if you can walk a bit. Room for carer but would be cramped with a wheelchair and a carer.
Staff
All very welcoming, considerate and helpful.
