The Plug's access kicks ass with the Undertones
Visit date:
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Walking Aid, Wheelchair, Powerchair, Mobility Scooter
Overview
I found The Plug to be pretty wheelchair friendly and had good access throughout. There are ramps for all three different locations. There are reasonable disabled toilets and most places seemed accessible throughout the building. The venue locations I have been in had raised viewing platforms providing pretty unobstructed views. Staff are cool and helpful and reassurance that guide dogs are welcomed. Good idea to call the venue before going to a gig and they are very helpful :)
Transport & Parking
The venue does not have its own car park. Plenty parking in centre of Sheffield and minimum walking distance eg bog standard marked parking bays are located off Matilda Street
Access
There is level access to reception from the entrance but the desk doesn't have a low section. The lighting levels are low for ambience so beware of people's ankles. For hearing aid users a bad mark as there is not a hearing loop system.
Toilets
There are accessible toilets within this venue designated for public use but the bogs are not for the sole use of disabled people. Signage on or near the toilet doors - good if you are a space invader - the toilet is about 7m located on the right as you enter. There is, of course, level access to the accessible toilet.
Staff
all pretty cool and made to feel v welcome and no overly patronising staff either :)
Anything else you wish to tell us?
We were told the staff receive disability awareness / equality training. Probably more awareness than DET
