Overview

Students from the Entry to Learning Level 2 course at Edinburgh College visited Edinburgh University as part of their Leonard Cheshire Can Do community review project. We had a tour around the facility looking at all the different sport and exercise activities that were on offer. We then had the chance to take part in an extremely enjoyable session on the climbing wall. Accessibility The Majority of the building is accessible for disabled users with several lifts in place. The building can be a bit confusing so keep an eye out for the directional signposts. Our tip for a group visit would be to contact the centre first and arrange your visit with the very capable staff! Overall we gave it 4.5 out of 5 and would definitely recommend a visit! Comments from the class were; “The staff made me feel safe and brave!” “A great place for active people.”

Transport & Parking

For us this was very simple with good bus access to The Pleasance from town. We only had to go on one bus from the Milton Road Campus to South Bridge and then a 5 minute walk to the Pleasance. There is no onsite parking unless you have a permit. There is one disabled bay.

Toilets

There are 2 large open access toilets near the front of the centre that are very spacious and fully equipped

Staff

Gerry and Anastasia were very friendly, supportive and patient. Their knowledgeable and safety conscious personalities made everyone feel safe during the climbing wall session while still managing to create a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. The booking for the day was very easy and straightforward thanks to Karens help in client services. All the students only had great things to say about the staff.
