Overview

Visited this venue to attend a show at Edinburgh Festival. Level Access Accessibility to the venue, however I discovered the show I was attending in the “KingDome” was situated up 20+ steps. The Venue staff were fantastic assisting me with early access to choose a seat suited to my disability needs without feeling rushed and a member of staff assisted myself & others with access to the lift also they actually accompanied me to show me where the disabled toilet was, rather than just giving directions, which I felt was more of a personal touch especially as the venue was getting busy at the time. Inside the “KingDome” There wasn’t much space between the performance space and the seating so not sure how wheelchairs would be situated if there were more than 2 in the room, without blocking the exit area. Also, the seating was very close together and uncomfortable, I folded my coat as some padding to sit on. Otherwise a nice enough venue space to attend a show during the festival.

Transport & Parking

There are zero parking areas directly adjacent to the venue, I live very nearby so just walked over. Yes, there are buses which stop right outside, but only on certain routes and only on one side of the road, the opposite direction bus stop is further away, so if you are coming to this venue from some distance, the best or possibly only option would be taxi/uber or to be dropped off by car at the bus stop outside the venue.

Toilets

The disabled toilet, which doubles up as a baby changing area, was a very small space for anyone with mobility needs with not much room for one person let alone a carer, and the toilet seat is very low down which I personally found difficult to use. It wasn’t a very clean space either unfortunately, possibly down to being used frequently as it’s adjacent to the bar. TIP ; Take some flushable wipes with you to clean the seat before you use it.
