Overview
This artisan bakery is charming, fun and full of amazing shortbread flavours. It's small, but spacious enough to get inside and turn around easily. It's a take-away shortbread shop near Edinburgh's Royal Mile.
Transport & Parking
There are bus stops on the nearby Royal Mile and one just outside of the shop, but otherwise parking and transport isn't the easiest in this part of Old Town. There is more on street parking on Holyrood Road around the corner.
Access
For such a small shop in an old building, the disabled access is surprisingly good! The wide door was propped open already when I arrived, there was no step to get in, and once inside there was enough room to move around and turn. The shop is very small, so be aware for this if you do use a larger powerchair or need a bit of extra room to turn easily. Everything in the shop is at a low height which makes it easy to view from a seated position. While this is not a sit-in cafe, there is a bench outside the shop window if you'd like to take a minute to sit and enjoy your shortbread! I also spotted some stools stacked inside which could be used if you require a break from standing.
Toilets
There are none, but there are lots of hotels, cafes and restaurants in the area should you need to go. The train station is around 10-15 minute walk away, and there are Changing Places toilets at the Scottish Parliament (around 15 minute walk) or at Th e Booking Office pub beside the train station (also around 15 minute walk to the pub).
Staff
Very friendly and chatty!
