Overview
Brilliantly accessible family trip out, ideal for 2-4 hours for families with small children, or an interesting trip out if you are interested in wildlife.
Transport & Parking
Well signposted from A55 and A5. Designated area for blue badge parking - 4 bays, near the entrance which has a good surface and is fairly flat. Not sure about public transport.
Access
Very good. It is a fairly complicated maze of buildings, but we had no problems getting around inside as there are very few steps and plenty of ramps. There are curtains to stop the butterflies getting out, which move out the way if you go through them fairly fast!! Paths outside are pretty good - we managed to get round the nature trail without difficulty, even though they advised it may be tricky. There was one display (a parrot enclosure) we couldn't get to as the viewing area was up on decking, and the bird hide had a very high window which was a shame as we couldn't see out. Would have been perfect if there was a swing or a roundabout we could have got on in play area, but on the whole it is a very accessible place.
Toilets
Large portacabin near the entrance with very clear sign. Ramp up to it and access via radar key. Rise and fall changing bed, mobile hoist. There were some rails round the toilet and plenty of room to transfer. You are asked not to leave nappies or pads in the bin in there and to please put them in a particular bin in the main building.
Staff
Everyone was very helpful and friendly.
