Overview

Parkgate retail park is located just outside of Rotherham town center and includes numerous shops, such as New Look, River Island, Asda Living and many more, and several restaurants such as Frankie and Benny's and Pizza hut. The shops are located in two parallel rows, with the large car park in between which is almost divided into two by the road through the center. There are two zebra crossings to facilitate safe crossing of the often busy road. There are ramps rather than steps down the banking to the car park s for improved accessibility.

Transport & Parking

There are many disabled parking spaces on each side of the car park. There is a free bus that runs between Parkgate and Rotherham Interchange every 12 minutes Monday to Saturday. This is a low floor bus and takes you right into the center of the complex. Alternatively, several bus routes run past the bus stop immediately outside of the entrance to the complex.

Access

The majority of the shops are just ground floor level, though BHS and Asda Living have an upstairs and a lift available. The upstairs of River Island would be inaccessible to wheelchair users. There are low curbs all around the complex. Wheelchairs are available for hire from the office in front of Pizza Hut.

Toilets

There are two unisex toilets also located near pizza hut which are equipped with both disabled and mother and baby equipment. However, many of the shops and restaurants such as Mothercare, Morrisons and Costa Coffee for example also provide customer toilets. The accessibility of these toilets vary between the different shops.

Staff

During my visit, the staff were all very polite and helpful.
