Has slightly better access for wheelchairs than the Borrowash branch.

Transport & Parking

There are bus stops outside the practice however if you are coming from Spondon the buses do not go past the practice you have to walk or get off at Nottingham Road and walk to get the black cat bus on Chad Lane end (near the shops). There is a car park but I've never used it.

Access

The entrance has automatic doors to get into building. There is a lowered counter for reception, the computer login system has been lowered and is now more accessible from a wheelchair. The computer is visual only there is no audio. The screen that tells you to go in to see who you're seeing is larger print and has audible announcement (although it isn't always spoken clearly for example Dr is pronounced drive not doctor). There are transit wheelchairs if needed. There are also chairs in reception some with arms some without. There are no doors to get into the corridor where the treatment rooms are or into the waiting room. The lights are bright and there is a radio on. They have a hearing loop and information can be provided in alternative formats depending in the persons needs but you need to request this in advance. BSL interpreters have to be booked.

Toilets

Toilet is tiny. Very limited turning space. Grab rails are white and do not contrast. There are two bins in transfer space. Cord has been cut short and does not reach the floor. I found it impossible to access toilet from my wheelchair. Hook on door is high up. Toilet only had a small handle to flush. The door lock was small. Toilet door also does not stay open it shuts on it's own. There is no changing places toilet. Nearest one is in the city.
