Overview
Amazing zoo with great facilities and friendly staff always wanting to give you the best experience!
Transport & Parking
We drove to the Zoo which had ample parking with many overflow car parks as you go up a hill. The disabled parking was located the closest to the zoo at the bottom of the hill to allow for easier access.
Access
The zoo itself was accessed from the disabled parking down a short slope, with no steps in or around the zoo itself that don't have slopes to accompany them. The zoo is very well signed to show you where you can go, with maps dotted around to see where you are. Information outside enclosures comes in a braille format, and information can be accessed for an induction loop if needed. There are lots of seats around the park which is useful as much of the park is located up steep hills which could be difficult for an individual in a wheelchair.
Toilets
There are toilets dotted around the park although they aren't obvious. The accessible toilet was large enough to fit a carer in and had grab rails to help with transfers. However, the toilets are quite wet and dirty.
Staff
Staff were all polite and helpful. The zoo keepers tried to give you the best experience possible by talking to you about the animals and answering any questions.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The zoo had a very friendly atmosphere and felt welcoming, with great accessibility.
