Overview

I visited the Orchard Park Hotel with a group of my friends on a Sunday afternoon in November 2023. I couldn't get parked in a disabled bay as their car park was full, so had to find a parking space further down the street. Access to the main bar/restaurant was good and we got a table that my wheelchair could fit under no problem. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was good, but the worst thing about the visit was their poor excuse for a disabled toilet. The toilet door opened into the extremely small and cramped L shaped toilet, making it very difficult for me to get out. I actually had to phone one of my friends to come and push the door inwards to let me out! Also, putting a couple of grab rails into a toilet definitely doesn't turn it into a disabled toilet! The toilet was also so small that I found it extremely difficult to turn my wheelchair around, meaning that I had to back out of the toilet! This was such a stressful experience for me, after what had been a good afternoon socialising with my friends. I honestly would never go back to the Orchard Park Hotel after this bad experience and strongly advise other wheelchair users to avoid this place. Which is a real shame, as the food was good and the staff were friendly.
