Overview
It does what it says on the tin! It’s an afternoon showing of a play, and you get a pint and a pie of your choice. It’s a nice way to spend an afternoon. The venue is in the basement that can be accessed by Lift.
Transport & Parking
Being in the heart of the West End it is fairly easy to get there . I got there by bus from the city centre, the buses are every 10 minutes. Hillhead subway station is a few hundred yards away, although it was opened in 1896, and is the third-oldest underground rail transit system in Europe, to their great shame it is still not accessible for wheelchairs users. There are pay and display street parking along both Byres Road and Great Western Road
Access
At the front of the venue there are a number of steps, obviously not accessible to myself. There are no notices at the front of the venue but because I’ve been here before I knew you had to enter via the Brasserie restaurant around the corner where you can get lift access to all floors. There are always plenty of people passing here so was able to ask someone to help with the door.
Toilets
There are no signs for the accessible toilet, I had to ask a member of staff. There are a number of tight turns to get to the toilet but it is manageable. It’s not the cleanest toilet I’ve ever been in but was acceptable. There was a red cord in the toilet just not beside the system.
Staff
All the staff are very helpful.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
There is no access at the front door, the lift is very small and at points it’s tight for space. Although my review shows that the access is a challenge you have to keep in mind the building is hundreds of years old, so they wouldn’t have expected a clumsy oaf like myself driving about in an electric wheelchair!
