Ooh! Fancy Seats!

Visit date:

Overview

Part of the Odeon chain of cinemas, but this one has recently been refurbished, and is now an Odeon Luxe. The biggest difference being the fancy new seating, every single seat in every screen individually reclines making them very comfy, and they each have their own little table. Good screens and sound (actually possibly a little bit too loud!) Easy wheelchair access throughout, lots of room to move in all main areas. Ramp as well as stairs to front doors, which have push-button opening. All on the same level once inside. This cinema recognises the CEA card. Hearing loop available at cinema tills and at the Costa cafe in the foyer, also film adaptations available Eg. audio descriptions, subtitles (but would be better to check their website/in the cinema, as may only be certain showings) Generally seems to be two wheelchair spaces per screen (is relatively small cinema rooms for an Odeon, but this can be a good thing!) These were at the back of the screen we were in, with carers seats (luxury ones!) right beside them. Tiered seating, so all have a good view. There were steps going down to the other rows of seats, a handrail went down the length of the wall beside them. Loads of leg-room when sitting in the seats, so would be quite easy if you had to get in or out during film.

Transport & Parking

Travelling by car seems quite straightforward to this cinema, it shares a large car-park with other restaurants etc at the Quay, but there are many disabled parking spaces in front of the cinema. There is also a 'drop-off' point directly outside. It is possible to get there by public transport: Shields Road is the nearest underground, and I think it's about a mile to Glasgow Central Station, but I'm not sure how easy the routes from these are to negotiate. (we came by car)

Toilets

All the toilets are located off the main foyer, clearly signed and easy to find. There only appeared to be one accessible toilet, however it was extremely clean. There was fixed wall support to the left side (if on the toilet) and a moveable support on the right side. There was a dyson-style handdryer, which is great, but I guess some people could find awkward to use. There was room for a carer to be able to assist.

Staff

Overall, all the staff seemed friendly and helpful. This included the staff in the Costa, within the cinema.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Always useful to know - there's a cash machine right outside. There are various restaurants at Glasgow Quay too, so could go for something to eat before/after film.
