Overview

A relaxing day out at gardens which have been made accessible as possible given the terrain and location. Most of the paths are rough but the rose garden and the summer planting borders are easily accessible and an access route is provided by the very helpful volunteer staff. 9 large blue badge parking spaces adjacent to a disabled toilet and the entrance to the gardens. There is also an accessible café with a second disabled toilet. In dry weather it is possible to cross the grass and enjoy the beautiful views over the Sussex countryside. There is also a small mobile van inside the grounds which sells drinks and snacks on good weather days.

Transport & Parking

Venue is really only accessible by car and it is not close to any nearby town. Excellent blue badge parking - 9 spaces. Would get 5 stars but as the years go by and more people are given blue badges all venues need to increase the number of blue badge car parking spaces. We arrived early which was fortunate as all the spaces were occupied later.

Access

There were plenty of signs to guide you to the entrance and you are provided with an accessible route around the gardens. On a dry day you can be more adventurous and use the grass and access more areas. Even in wet conditions there are still areas to view and you can then retire to the café on the outside of the gardens

Toilets

Two disabled toilets which are clearly marked. Would have received 5 stars but the large nappy bin is always a compromise. I would be great to go to a location where disabled visitors do not have to share with baby changing as this compromises access.

All friendly and helpful,

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Nymans is a nestled away little treat which is well worth the visit. We decided to take a picnic as it was such a beautiful day which was a good idea as the café is outside and away from the beautiful view. On dry days there is also a small mobile van located behind the house ruin which sells drinks and sandwiches. We took our picnic across the grass and my partner found a bench to sit and we thoroughly enjoyed gazing at the view as we ate our food.
