Overview
Nido Student accommodation offers a positive outlook on the accommodation of disabilities in public buildings. Staff are very aware of access issues and are on hand at any given moment to assist residents and visitors in a friendly and polite manner. In addition, every area of the building is equipped accordingly to the needs of people with disabilities, ensuring that no one faces barriers while going about with their occupations around the premises. Overall the building is available to everyone and is constructed in a manner that makes it wheelchair available.
Transport & Parking
The Venue offers a drive - in parking area at the back of the building. Once exited the vehicle one can enter the building through automatic doors. This is accessible to everyone including wheelchairs, as it requires no assistance to have the door opened. If arriving at the location using public transport, one would enter the building from either of it's 5 entrances / exits which are also automatic, thus assuring the visitor no difficulty to enter In addition the accommodation's close proximity to the Buchanan Bus station, allows the public to access the accommodation within minutes!
Access
The building is overall very accessible to the public! For residents, only a specific key card is needed to access the premises through the automatic doors. For visitors, it simply requires a dial - up to the resident's room to also access the automatic doors, thus ensuring that it provides no difficulty to access. The initial entrance level does not require any rumps. Upon entering the building's common areas are structured to provide an additional level where one could visit the common spaces (e.g cinema, gaming area etc. ) This is very much accessible to everyone including people who use wheelchairs, as the building provides a wheelchair lift that is activated by the press of a button once entered, thus allowing the person to move around the additional floor with ease. Furthermore, the building provides 4 lifts adjacently places across the two ends of the building. They are quite big, and allows easy access of wheelchairs and other people. The elevators are also adjusted to allow easy utilisation for people with vision disabilities as they all have braille on the outside in inside buttons of the elevator. The elevator's big dimensions also prove to offer space for someone suffering from hidden disability, like claustrophobia. They also offer large digital screens that display the floor you are on, and a clear audio of the floor being transmitted through a speaker. For residents of the building, the staff take great interest in matching them with a room appropriate including big rooms that are capable of accommodating wheelchairs
Toilets
The building overall offers many accessible toilets. The common area offers 3 toilet sites which are very easy to locate, and one of those specifically designed to accommodate wheelchairs offering a vast space to manoeuvre and for a carer and emergency cords hanging at several corners of the room. These in term are always kept clean by the cleaners who make sure they are always accommodated with the user's needs.
Staff
The building offers a variety of staff that are willing to assist one's needs at any given time. Everyone is extremely helpful and friendly and they will definitely put a smile on your face. From all my visits at the accommodation, i have never left with a bad experience
Anything else you wish to tell us?
