Overview

We camped here in our motorhome and were hoping to find an accessible shower room and laundry, as well as being able to get onto the beach. The only thing that was difficult was the beach, because it is pebble so difficult to access in a wheelchair. Otherwise, the site was perfect!

Transport & Parking

We arrived by motorhome. The road down the peninsula was narrow in places and could do with resurfacing in places but was okay. On arrival, signposting was very good and we checked in at reception to be told we could choose any available space. The roads around the site are good quality tarmac. We went to the motorhome service point first, which was well laid out and easy to use. Then we chose a pitch facing the sea, on grass. The grass is short and hard and actually I found it easy enough to wheel over in my normal chair.

Access

I could get to everywhere I wanted around the site, except down to the sea. There are several wide paths for beach access. I used my mountain trike and could get onto the upper beach. I couldn't walk my dog though as the pebbles were too difficult to move on, so hubby had to do that. There were plenty of walks around the site though which I could enjoy. The laundry was good. Simple, clean and plenty of space to work with my assistance dog and do the washing myself.

Toilets

The accessible toilet and shower room were functional and adequate, but a little dated. They are probably due for renovation soon. It was clean though and there was enough space to get undressed, showered, dried and dressed with help from my dog. Importantly for me, there was space for her to wait while I showered, without her getting wet.

Staff

We only met the lady on reception but she was really helpful and friendly. She knew loads about the area and could answer all our questions.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

We only stayed one night, as part of a 2-week roadtrip but we would love to return for a longer visit and explore the area more. This is possibly one of the nicest club sites I've ever seen! It has real character and the layout is great, with 7 different areas - all different in character.
