Overview
Myself (wheelchair user) and a friend stayed for a couple of nights at Netherurd recently. Jade, the manager, gave us a warm welcome and showed us around the building . With 18 bedrooms and communal areas, this is set up so well for large groups and families to enjoy . The accommodation is really lovely. The decor is tasteful and has a brand-new feel to it. Everything has been made wheelchair accessible throughout. We stayed in the interconnecting apartments. My room had lots of space and equipment including hoist as well as a large, well kitted out wet room . My friend stayed in the next door room, joined by a connecting door, with twin/double bed and its own shower room. Both rooms have a microwave, fridge, utensils etc. lovely Jade had even put pancakes and strawberries in the fridge for our arrival on pancake day!
Transport & Parking
We drove down and were able to park our right outside our accommodation.
Access
The building is completely accessible to wheelchair users with everything on one floor and plenty of space. My mobility scooter fitted into the room easily as well.
Toilets
My wetroom had sufficient grab rails. All very clean and tidy. Plenty of space for friend to help me.
Staff
Jade is very welcoming and informative about the building and the plans they have for developing facilities. We also met Kim who keeps the place wonderfully clean and Nick and Jim working away in the garden to develop raised beds, accessible, poly tunnel, sensory garden and other features for the benefit of their visitors. Everyone was very kind and interesting. They have a shared belief in making Netherurd accessible to all. I would love to go back for longer to explore the surrounding area.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I highly recommend this accommodation. Great for groups, but also for individual families or like me, disabled with a friend to give me a hand. I’ll definitely be going back.
