Overview

One of the few National Trust properties that was accessible inside the house for my mobility scooter . Nice grounds, and coffee shop , most of which is accessible.

Transport & Parking

The parking is a long walk from the actual house but there is golf cart shuttle service to get you there and you can ask and if available there is disabled parking only closer to the house. The car park is shingle and where it is compacted it’s easy to navigate. Some areas have deeper , less compacted shingle which is a little trickier.

Access

The lower part of the house is accessible . The kitchen Wing is also accessible if you ask. They will take you in an alternative door. Otherwise you cannot get inas there are steps and a small space. The Carriage house is not accessible . The grounds are mostly accessible with compacted shingle paths. The rear of the house is not accessible.

Toilets

There are 2 sets of toilets. One by the house and one at the Orangery Cafe. I only used the ones at the cafe and there was not a designated disabled toilet only 2 normal ones with no grabs bars etc.

Staff

They are wonderful. Knowledgeable and helpful. Keen that you get the whole experience even if all areas are not accessible and will help by offering brochures and describing those areas.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

It was a lovely venue and we enjoyed it. The cafe is not very big and if big coach parties are on site it can get a little crowded.
