Overview
Staff are friendly, access is good and we are able to go onto the ice in a wheelchair. On site changing place nailed it!
Transport & Parking
We parked nearby on street parking but as we left we saw a very easy car park adjacent to the Ice Centre which wasn’t easily sign posted as we had driven past it twice. It’s a once way system around the Motorpoint arena which is what’s it’s called in addition to the NIC.
Access
You enter at Street level and either lift up or down to the centre, depending on where you have parked. We accessed the lift although quite industrial it did the job. Lift access to all levels at the Ice Centre.
Toilets
Yay it has one of the best Changing Places I’ve ever seen. Clean new and staff directed me and knew exactly what it was. Large soft bed with all you could need. It’s on level three which is on a different level to the rink. The added bonus is you see the lovely ice dance costumes from Torvil and Dean Olympic Days as they decorate the walls in large glass frames on level 3.
Staff
Staff helpful and when asked if I could take my son on the ice in his wheelchair they were in phased and just had to seek permission from their manager - as there are special quieter sessions for wheelchairs. We were on a usual session which wasn’t overly busy so it was no problem at all.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I emailed ahead of visit and I had a response which was very informative and quick. Our main reason to go was short diversion from our trip to Nottingham Center Parcs but it was a great stop and the restaurant lower level at the rink was good great access and views over the rink. We visited on one of the hottest days of the Summer and we were cold! Which was amazing! We would recommend it especially if you have an Ice Stars fan in the family. Bring socks I had to buy some x
