Spectacular scenery
Visit date:
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Powerchair
Overview
Approx 2 miles to the viaduct and back. It's not easy to get into the scenery in Scotland in a wheelchair but this cycle route gets you there. More suited for a reasonably robust powerchair or scooter.
Transport & Parking
Parked at Glen Ogle forestry commission car park on A85. No marked bays, just park in the whole area. Only a small parking area so if it's full it's full.
Access
I was using a powered wheelchair which handles gravel and uneven surfaces adequately (DE08L freedom chair). The path from car park to the cycle track was tarmac and wide enough for a wheelchair or mobility scooter. It crossed the road but it was quiet enough in May. The cycle track was a mix of smooth tarmac and rougher gravelly track. It follows the old railway line so it's very gentle gradients and straight. Plenty wide enough. It goes through the forest, beautiful scenery. I went as far as the viaduct. The view is amazing even from a chair. If you can stand a little and get your head through or over the railing you are rewarded with the most wonderful view of the vast space.
Toilets
No loo here. There is an accessible public toilet at Killin (no radar key) and Calender (radar key). Not a lot of turning space inside if you are fully wheelchair dependent).
