Overview

Arrived slightly late and after a few minutes queuing we were escorted by a member of staff to an external lift which lowered us slowly into the building. Once inside friendly staff showed us to where we could sit, and as we were advised to come early we were able to sit in the front row where there was extra leg room. I needed to use the facilities several times and it was fully accessible and relatively easy to get to ( location in the foyer felt a bit strange and everyone gathering there kind of knew where I was going so I felt a bit self conscious ). Getting to the bar was a bit difficult as there was a narrow walkway to get through, but I kind of understood because the show was sold out and the venue was smaller than some I have been too. Ruby was amazing, warm and funny and I really enjoyed her set. There was also cake on offer which is always welcome! Great venue, accessible for wheel chair users but if you use a scooter or there are several of you I would call first to check about space as the venue is small and awkwardly shaped in places. All in all a great find - as who knew ... free and subsidised comedy in London. Forgot to ask about access for the visually impaired; but staff where friendly and welcoming and nothing seemed too much trouble - so don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Transport & Parking

Took a black cab to get there. I used one provided by the MS society and he dropped us right outside the venue. I was able to use a ramp to step out onto the kerb. The ramp was put down manually which takes a bit of time. Always need help in plugging in my seatbelt for some reason but he did help with this. I couldn’t see any disabled parking nearby and as this is the west end I would advise getting a cab as the walk will be too far from Tottenham Court Road tube, which is near to the venue.

Access

Used a lift from street level into the venue. It was open to the elements so you will get wet if it is raining, however it is large enough to hold at least 6 people and their chair or walkers. No more than 2 wheelchairs at a time though. Not much signage but the toilet was clearly visible with a Sign. Staff were available to offer help and answer questions but check in advance re large print, bsl, etc as this wasn’t obviously on show or available.

Toilets

The loo was very visible, clean, spacious enough for a wheel chair, with grab rails and just enough space for a carer .... with a bit of a squeeze for the larger person/chair.

Very warmly welcomed once we were allowed inside. We had to wait about 5 minutes before we were escorted inside. The queue was very long to get inside and as we were outside it was cold and windy so an inside cloakroom or waiting area would be better. The staff were friendly, helpful and tried their best to answer my questions. The male receptionist ... can’t remember his name ... was especially good! He told me and my friend about the membership scheme, encouraged us to sign up there and then, we were then able to get discount on our drinks and updates via email re future events ... both free and paid

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Best kept secret in London ... if you love comedy, improv, new comedians in a small really intimate venue ... right in the heart of the West End. I felt really lucky to be sat right in the front row and was able to have a personal conversation with one of my favourite comediennes Ms Ruby Wax. The drink prices were not ridiculous using the discount card given to us, and the staff couldn’t have been nicer!!! Best thing was I didn’t have to queue for the loo, which was very welcome as my need was frequent on the night. What could be better ... let us wait inside immediately if we have tickets in advance and they know we are coming as this can put you off if you can’t take standing or sitting in the cold. Otherwise definitely can recommend this for a fun night out in London
