Overview
We booked a table for lunch whilst on holiday in Ayr and had a really enjoyable meal.
Transport & Parking
We walked in from the campsite at Craigie Gardens. It took a good 20 minutes plus a detour into town. The pavements are variable quality. Some are good but many are potholed and cracked, making access difficult (not the restaurant's fault though).
Access
The restaurant has level access and is all on one level. There is good spacing between the tables and we were given sufficient space to be comfortable and keep my assistance dog out of the way. The area around the table was nice and clean. The buffets are set out by type (Indian, Chinese, Mexican, carvery, pizza, etc) and there is plenty of space to get around with a wheelchair. The food was at a good height, so I could see what I was doing and serve myself independently.
Toilets
There is an accessible toilet but it is tiny! I could just fit in with my wheelchair but only by backing my chair into the sink and then I couldn't sit properly on the loo because my chair was in the way. There was a changing table that didn't stay folded up properly, so I was conscious that it might fall on my head. The sink was okay but the hand dryer didn't work.
Staff
The staff were very friendly and professional. Used plates were collected regularly. Help was offered once but then my independence was respected. They were welcoming of my assistance dog and didn't distract her in any way.
