Extra charge for an accessible room

Overview
I recently visited this hotel and was advised that for an accessible room we would be charged £50 extra. We stayed in a standard queen room as we were not prepared to pay the extra money as a matter of principle. We were informed that it was a family room and was upgrade to a standard queen room. We have stayed in hotels all over the UK and have never been charged extra for an accessible room. I cannot believe that a chain such as Marriott would discriminate against disabled people.
Transport & Parking
Car park behind the hotel. I didn't go so unsure of access
Access
There was a disabled entrance but requires someone to go into hotel and open it from inside.
Toilets
Standard accessible toilet on ground floor.
