Overview

Mosset Park is a football ground in the town of Forres, which is the home ground of Highland Football League side Forres Mechanics. It has a capacity of 2,700, with 500 seated. Forres Mechanics are the oldest football club in the North of Scotland and are one of only two original teams to play in the Highland League since its first season in 1893, the other being Clachnacuddin. We parked on the street and had a 2-minute walk until we reached Mosset Park and then I scooted/drove to the entrance gate where I was greeted by a member of staff who opened the gate and said that wheelchairs/carers go in for free. I felt bad by not paying for a ticket because I like to support the 'wee team' just ask Ross County as I always try to support them when I'm at their stadium as they're a 'wee team' so I bought 2 raffles and a sausage roll to make it up to them. There are small stones which are really annoying as I was at Mosset Park before and I got stuck in the stones so 2 gentlemen gave me a lift out but I had no problem on this occasion. I then drove to the toilet and then turned right and went into a 'wheelchair shelter', however some people used it as a smoking shelter and I personally have no breathing problems but if you did have breathing issues then this is definitely an issue.

Transport & Parking

4.5

Like most other highland league teams, Forres Mechanics does not have a Private car park. We parked on the street around the corner from Mosset Park. There was also a car park beside where we parked so you have a few options.

Access

4

Access was through an entrance gate, which a member of staff opened for me then there are small stones like chuckies for about 100 yards until you get to the wheelchair shelter. It can be tricky to get onto the wheelchair shelter but a few Narin County fans gave me a lift up so it was great. The wheelchair shelter itself was alright and had a chair for a carer to use, you didn't get a great view but it was okay.

Toilets

1.5

Surprisingly Mosset Park must be one of the only Highland League sides with a disabled loo. There is a men's toilet and then about 5 meters away, there is a ladies/disabled toilet. I thought that the toilet would be both disabled and ladies, however, there is a small uneven ramp up to the entrance and I was pleased to find that there are 2 separate toilets for both ladies and disabled people. I will give Forres Mechanics MASSIVE credit for having a disabled toilet considering that they are only a small club, however, I want to do an unbiased review so being honest there are few good points of their disabled toilet. It doesn't have a red cord for one so what would happen if I needed help? Shout? You would have no other option. There was a dead moth on the toilet which really summed up how clean the toilet must be and how little they must clean it. I couldn't reach the sink as there was a railing blocking me. Also, I wouldn't really think that the railing could support much weight.

Staff

4

The staff was very good. I went to the entrance gate and the member of staff who was there let me in no problem and said "No charge" so he was nice. There were no stewards as such so it was quite frustrating as I had quite a few questions about the access. The staff weren't as attentive as the staff that I spoke about in my Kynoch Park review but nevertheless, they were very good.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

As I was saying about a few Narin fans helping me out, that is one of the things I love about the highland league. All opposition fans blend together throughout the stadium and everyone helps everyone else no matter who you support, now tell me that would happen between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox and I'll show you a liar. I would recommend going to Mosset Park if you wanted to support your local football club.
