Overview
When arriving at Morrison's I could see there was ample blue badge spaces situated near the front of the store. The store entrance is covered over and is on the same level as the car park making access easy. Once inside the store I could see the isles were wide enough for their own shop mobility scooters, and suitable for most wheelchairs or walking aids. The toilets are easily accessible and just inside the entrance to the right, next to the kiosk. The toilets are locked, and you can obtain the key from staff at the kiosk. Staff were very bright, friendly and accommodating, advising location of wheelchair trolleys.
Transport & Parking
The car park provides approximately eighteen blue badge parking spaces which are situated not too far from the front door. Depending on where you park you do need to use part of the road in the car park to get to the safe crossing area at the front of the store. You can also access Morrison's from the main road if travelling by bus, please check with your local service to see if disability access is available on this route. The bus stops are on both sides of the road, the stop on the opposite side of the road is near a pedestrian crossing. Once you have crossed the road both are a short distance to the access ramp. The access ramp has a Z shape allowing a gradual decline, however maybe challenging to get to the top in a self-propelled wheelchair. There is also a taxi pick up and drop off area right outside the entrance of the store.
Access
There is one entrance to the store which on the same level as the car park, there are no steps to negotiate. Mobility scooters are available and just inside the entrance of the store, speak to a member of staff if you need assistance with a scooter. Moving around the store is relatively easy as most of the isles are spacious, although help may be needed to reach higher products.
Toilets
There are accessible toilets to the right of the front door (as you enter), next to the kiosk, the signage is above your head as you come in and you don't see this until leaving the store. The toilet lock is not a universal radar lock and your radar key will not fit, so you will need to pick up the key at kiosk. The toilet seat is close to a wall and has ample room to transfer from a wheelchair from right to left only. If you have two people supporting you, transferring may be difficult due to the limited access on one side of the toilet. Safety rails and emergency alarms are in place and within close reach, with sink and toilet roll dispenser at a low level. The toilet has plenty of space for someone with 1/2 carers. It was clean, there is no hoist.
Staff
Staff are very friendly and helpful, if you need help to reach higher items in the store, assistance can be arranged. If you speak to customer service on arrival, a member of staff can be arranged to accompany you around the store. Staff are really accommodating and happy to help, volunteering other information of services available.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Wheelchair trolleys are available, I couldn’t locate one on the day of my visit however staff were on hand to help. There is an access pathway in the car park which leads to surrounding town centre shops. There is also access to Amazon Locker at the side of the store if you need to pick up your orders when you are doing your shopping. I found a good selection of free from product for gluten free diets within the store.
