Overview

Morridge View is a five bedroom holiday cottage ideally located for visiting the Peak District. The ground floor is level, spacious and open plan. There is a downstairs bedroom suitable for a wheelchair user or those who can’t manage steps. This bedroom has an en-suite wet room. The outside terrace can be accessed via a ramp from the living area. The cottage advertises that it sleeps 10 and it does! Enough sofas for 10, a dining table that fits 10 people around it, plenty outdoor seating and lots of crockery. There has been a lot of attention to detail given at this cottage which is very well decorated. We had everything we needed and lots of home comforts. It would be tricky for a wheelchair user to navigate the kitchen if they wanted to cook themselves but it is roomy. It is one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in and we would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. 5 star accommodation. Everything you see and read on the cottage website is exactly that when you get there. The website is detailed and provides lots of accessibility information.

Transport & Parking

Plenty room to park right outside the cottage. We were a group of 10 (2 families) with a WAV and a car. Very easy parking and flat.

Access

No steps to negotiate downstairs. The whole of the downstairs is level, spacious, open plan and accessible. There is ramped access to the outside terrace from the living area.

Toilets

There is a roll in en-suite wet room from the downstairs bedroom. The wet room has grab rails, a standing toilet frame and a shower chair. The mirror above the sink is positioned low level. The sink is a standard sink but we could get under it in our manual wheelchair with no issue. The wet room is a little tight if you have a person assisting you however completely manageable for 2 people in there and not uncomfortable. Very clean and well decorated.

Staff

The cleaning staff are excellent. The place was spotless on arrival. The owners (Kate and Paul) live on site. They are very helpful and friendly but not intrusive in any way. We needed a some flour one evening to make macaroni cheese which Kate gladly provided. I felt that they genuinely wanted their guests to be happy and have a lovely stay at the cottage. This isn’t a place where they want to just churn guests in and out. It is evident that they want to provide a good and quality experience.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The owners ensured you could access the cottage in a Covid precautionary way. The cottage has outstanding views. Peaceful and rural but within driving distance to lots of places. The Peak District was surprisingly accessible. We did abseiling and climbing at Dukes Barn, boating at Ladybower Reservoir, visited Buxton Pavillion Gardens, Rudyard Lake, Peak Wildlife park and Carsington Water. We had a great week!
